Gloria was our longtime neighbor & friend. She was such a wonderful person to know, visit & chat with about all kinds of marvelous topics. I always admired her gutsy, strong attitude about her limiting circumstances in the years following her stroke & will try to keep her example in mind for our coming years. Unfortunately Bruce & I are in Florida & are unable to attend her services. Some of our children will be attending to represent us. Please know our caring thoughts are with you five children & the many other close relatives. Rest in peace, Gloria.

May I offer my sincere condolences. May your hearts find comfort in God's Word where it states: "He will swallow up death forever, and the Lord will wipe the tears from all faces." (Isaiah 25:8) May your loved one awaken to a world where there will be peace, no sickness (Isaiah 33:24), and no more troubles (Revelation 21:4) throughout eternity (Psalm 37:29). May your hearts find comfort in the wonderful hope found in the Bible, your family, friends and good memories at this time. My deepest sympathy to you.

To the children of Gloria Hansen,
I am very sorry for your loss. I remember your mom would bring me lunches when I was next door with a broken leg. Sweet lady. Big, beautiful smile. Even bigger heart. God Bless.

Deepest sympathy to Gloria's family from the Cox family. Thanks for being a part of our lives. The seasonal wreaths and March Madness will never be the same. The Fourth of July parades in Columbia and the raising of the flag in the cemetery across the street from the church have all become treasured memories. Make some noise in Heaven. Your life, in passing, is truly one of celebration. Be at peace now and we'll see you in Heaven.

Please send me Aunt Gloria's address in heaven, so I can send her a Christmas card and keep her up to date on my girls and their growing families. We will miss her e-mails, letters and cards. I don't know how she did it. Our sympathy goes out to Debbie, Donald, Cindy, Glenn and John and her very large extended family. There is a time for everything and it was her time to leave us, but that doesn't make it any easier on those of us who will miss her very much.

Aunt Gloria has played such a role and such an influence as I grew up. I remember her strutting down the Street in her white boots and twirling her baton. Even as a kid I remember her as a real looker and one of the most wonderful persons I have ever been fortunate enough to know. Always with a smile on your face and something nice to say about everybody. Our condolences to the family and may they find peace in knowing that she is with those she loves up in heaven.

I have such happy memories of the year I spent at Eastern and living with Gloria, Gram and Max. Gloria was a very special lady, and was so incredibly proud of her family....her. children and their families and their accomplishments. Gloria, Gram and I survived a nor'easter together in the house on Columbia Green...I'll never forget putting quilts up on windows to increase the insulation as the wind picked up and the snow piled up outside! When I came to visit, she always remembered my favorite foods and made them for me. We shared many late-night chats, field trips and laughs. I was blessed to know Gloria.

Our deepest sympathy to all of Gloria's family and friends on the loss of this beautiful person, whom I had the privilege of meeting through our beloved mutual friend, Joan. We travelled to Paris and many other cities together when she joined my group of high school French students years ago. Watching her "drink in" the experience was delightful. Her inimitable Jolie de vivre was contagious and affected everyone in her presence! She made us laugh and she spread joy to all our group. We often spoke fondly of those days and how special she felt to have "bought her walking shoes" and discover Paris and other favorite spots. After her stroke, she told me that she felt so very lucky to have seen that magical part of the world. I will miss Gloria and keep her memory alive in my heart. Thank you for being my friend. With deepest sympathy, Lucy and Maurice Simard

Gloria was a great lady who never quit. I was a choir director at the Columbia Congregational Church for many years and both Gloria and Don sang in the choir. She and I worked together with the Children's Choir and Joyful Voices at the church. When she had the stroke I was convinced she would be back. Even after I retired we kept in touch via the internet. I shall miss that dear lady and know that she's already singing in the heavenly choir, free from her earthly shackles at last. God bless, Gloria.

To all of Gloria's children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Know how very much you were loved & how proud of all of you she was. She often spoke of you with pictures of your latest event or accomplishment. People I didn't know or ever would became known to us through her. She was a special friend & always a lady. Her passing leaves a void in our lives but happy to have been a small part of her story. Our sincere condolences to all who loved her.
