Edna (Brown) Handfield

Lucy Edna Handfield, 93, wife of the late Francis Handfield, of Franklin, CT passed away on March 11, 2024 at St. Joseph Living Center. She was born on July 29, 1930, daughter of the late Alfred and Mary (Rogers) Brown.

Edna lived her whole life in the Town of Franklin where she and Francis began and ran Handfield Dairy Equipment until they retired. She also worked for Brand Travel in Willimantic for many years.

She is survived by her daughter Debra (Starkweather) Beisiegel and her husband Russell of Franklin, CT, son Mark Starkweather of Gettysburg, PA, grandchildren Jaime and Jeremy, great grandchildren Cameron, Kyla, and Tripp, many nieces and nephews, stepchildren Jerry, Jim, John, Philip, Charlie, and Richard Handfield, Carol Valone, and Betty Kasacek and, and sister-in-law Doris Clark. Edna was predeceased by her sister Betty Sterry, brother Charles Brown, nephews Charlie and Jeff, and niece Nancy.

Edna’s family would like to thank St. Joseph Living Center for taking good care of her.

Her family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic. Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 11:00am at the Franklin Congregational Church, 31 Meeting House Hill Rd. Franklin, CT. Burial will follow at Plains Cemetery in Franklin. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Janet Carlson Calvert Library, 5 Tyler Dr. Franklin, CT 06254.
