Sandra Marie (Camillo) Macht, of Columbia, CT, wife of 50 years to the late William (Bill) Fredrick Macht died peacefully on October 3, 2018 in Hartford, CT at the age of 76.

Sandy was the daughter of the late Germaine (Cloutier) and Louis Camillo. She is survived by her son William (Bill) Macht and his wife Ann and granddaughter Ashley; daughter Sheryl Kelly and her husband Bob and grandsons, Shane and Jason and Jason’s wife Casey; and her sister Renee Murphy and husband Dan of Windham, CT.

Sandy was born on October 24, 1941 in Willimantic. She attended UConn and worked in the medical field prior to having children.  She married William (Bill) Macht, her high school sweetheart in 1963. Sandy and Bill built their forever home in Columbia, CT. where they raised their children Sheryl and Bill.  She dedicated her life to raising her children. Her husband, children and grand-children were the loves of her life.

She and Bill loved traveling in their RV and have traveled to 49 states in North America, throughout the Canadian Rockies and down to Baja, Mexico. She was a loving, compassionate individual who was passionate about family history and genealogy. She volunteered at the Family History center in Manchester, CT and was active in breast cancer and grief support groups. She loved gardening, card making, numerous other crafts and her kitties. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Her family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 from 5-7 pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. in Willimantic. A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 10am at Potter Funeral home. Burial will follow at the Center Cemetery in Columbia. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Sandy’s life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., I-91 Tech Center, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.

The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and support staff at Hartford Hospital for their care and dedication to providing comfort to Sandy throughout her illness.
