Welcome to the memorial page for

Michael "Mike" Lewis Higgins

October 20, 1944 ~ April 10, 2019 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Michael “Mike” Higgins, 74, of Hampton CT, passed away while surrounded by family on April 10, 2019 after a hard fought battle with cancer.

During his 40+ year career in International Procurement with Pratt and Whitney he traveled the world and was proud of his work. Having been fortunate to visit amazing places and develop many friendships, he was most happy at home with family. He spent his retirement years enjoying his model train hobby, baseball and watching UConn women play basketball. Late in his life he found sobriety with an amazing community of friends through AA. He served as Third Selectman, sat on the Board of Finance for the Town of Hampton and was a Little League coach for many years.  He loved his pets, loved to read, loved anything associated with trains and loved visiting friends in Downeast Maine. He was a kind and gracious man who had a heart of gold and the ability to always make you smile.

He is survived by his wife Marilynn “Sam” of 53 years, son Todd of Brooklyn CT, daughter and son-in-law Ciaran and Chip Wilcox also of Brooklyn and his adored granddaughter Madalin, 18.  He leaves an older brother Tom Higgins and his wife Annette; brother Gary Higgins and wife Carol; his sister Jackie Merwin and her husband Rod; brother Jon Higgins and his wife Rindy; brother and sister-in-law John and Charlene Meyer; sister-in-law Lauren LeBlanc and a close network of many nieces and nephews and their children.

There will be no calling hours; however a memorial service has been planned on April 27, 2019 starting at 2:00 PM at the Hampton Community Center at 178 Main Street, Hampton, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Lung Association would be appreciated.
