Welcome to the memorial page for

John David Little

June 28, 1951 ~ May 8, 2019 (age 67) 67 Years Old

John David Little, Jr. (Dave) of Mansfield, CT died suddenly at home on May 8, 2019. He was born in Mt. Kisco, NY on June 28, 1951. Dave spent many happy years of childhood living on the shores of Old Lyme, CT before moving to CT for college and his subsequent life.

After earning his BA in history, his love of the subject continued throughout his life. That passion led him to become an accomplished genealogist. He researched numerous families, including his own. He was an avid reader and explored all kinds of literature with a deep curiosity. Traveling the world became a way to combine his history love with adventure, and in later years, he was able to enthusiastically plan and begin to fulfill some lifelong dreams of visiting places far and wide.

His entire career was spent in woodworking and he took great pride in craftsmanship and creativity, whether working alone or with others. After several years working independently, he was blessed to meet Chuck Funk of Ashford. Together they established a partnership and friendship that would eventually last 30 years. As Funk and Little, Inc., they worked primarily in Northeastern CT as building contractors and custom cabinetry makers.

He was predeceased by his parents, Audrey (Johnson) Little and John D. Little, Sr., of Washington, ME. He is survived by his loving wife Ava (Landry) Little, his brother Scott Little of Maine, brother-in-law David Landry of Tolland and numerous extended family members.

All who knew Dave considered him to be a very talented, kind, and gentle person. He loved his life, his craft, and his community. He was clearly loved in turn, and will be missed by many.

Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 16 2019, at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street, Willimantic, CT.
