Earl A. Eldredge

March 30, 1941 ~ January 13, 2019 (age 77) 77 Years Old

Earl A. Eldredge, 77, of Willington, passed away peacefully at home on January 13, 2019. He was born March 30, 1941 to the late Earl C. and Drusilla(Arnold) Eldredge. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 40 years, Gail H. Eldredge, his son, James A. Eldredge, and sister, Kay(Eldredge) Wright. Earl leaves behind a brother, Clinton(Elna) Eldredge and sister, Karen(Bob) Smith of Willington, CT. He is survived by his son, Steven(Jean) Eldredge of Farmington, NH, stepson, Norris(Emily) O'Keefe of Duluth, GA, stepdaughter, Linda(Roland) Sumner of Lebanon, CT, stepson, Patrick O'Keefe of Manchester, CT and daughter, Holly Ladd of Willington. He leaves behind six grandchldren, Ashley, Thomas, Lawrence, Anna, Scott and Elizabeth, as well as two great-grandchildren, Killian and Elly, and several nieces and nephews. 


Earl was a 1959 graduate of Windham Regional Technical School, where he also served on their Alumni Board in his later years. Upon graduation he became employed by the University of Connecticut where he worked for 37 years, retiring from his position of Supervisor of Mechanical Systems in 1996. He also served as the Selectman of Willington from 1985-1989.
Earl loved the outdoors, whether it was mowing the fields at his family farm or target shooting with his bow & arrow in his backyard. He enjoyed fishing, reading and EATING. As a man who never missed a meal, he could often be found dining out with his family and friends, which was one of his greatest pleasures. Earl was an avid supporter of the NRA and was always up for discussing news and politics with his companions. Although Earl could be quite reserved, he had an uncanny sense of humor and a knack for keeping people entertained with his antics. 
His wake will be held at Potter Funeral Home, Willimantic, CT on Tuesday, January 22nd, 2019 from 9-11 am, with funeral service directly following at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be immediately following at the Willington Hill Cemetery.
