Constance Leona Tomecko

Constance Leona Tomecko of Willington, Ct. died at home the evening of December 8, 2018 after a long, courageous battle with lung cancer.  She was born on March 28, 1958 and was a life-long resident of the Mansfield-Storrs area.

Connie received her BS degree from Eastern Connecticut State University and was employed her entire career with the University of Connecticut in Storrs, specializing in Focus Data Base Management.  She retired in 2014, after more than 35 years of service.

Connie was a treasured sister and devoted and dedicated daughter. She was an avid reader and enjoyed books on US Presidential history, the Holocaust and religion, always having a new book to share.  She had a love and compassion for animals, especially feral cats, fostering and adopting out dozens of four-footed buddies.

Left to cherish her memory is her brother, George William (the late Joedy Jenkins) Tomecko, Jr. of Storrs; her sister, Patricia Lee (Edwin) Gembala of Hawthorn Woods, Illinois; and her aunt, Constance Dimock of Trumbull, Connecticut.  She is also lovingly remembered by her three nephews, David (Wincy) Tomecko , Allen (Andrea) Tomecko,  and Stephen Tomecko; four great nieces, many cousins and enduring friends.  Also missing her is Tommie, her current best furry friend.

She is now reunited with her loving parents, George and Dorothy Tomecko and her nephew, Timothy.

Visitation will be at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte.195) Willimantic on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 5-7pm.  Her funeral will be 11:00 am Saturday, December 15, 2018 at St. Philip-Apostle Church 64 Pompey Hollow Rd. Ashford, with burial at the Storrs Cemetery immediately following the service.  Please contact the funeral home for additional information.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or a local animal shelter. A bright, loving, precious light was extinguished far too early.  Please don’t smoke.
