Cecile M. Bienvenue

Cecile M. (Frechette) Bienvenue, 83, of Storrs, wife of Gerald Bienvenue, died June 16, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones both physically and spiritually, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She is the daughter of the late Ernest and Aurora (Robillard) Frechette.  Cecile and Gerald met by chance while volunteering to chaperone on a hayride. A year later they were married. Cecile raised two children, five grandchildren, and more than a few welcome strays. She was an avid and talented crafter and sold many beautiful items under the name of “Granny B’s Crafts”.  She spent as much time as she could have with her family, whether it be by long distance phone calls or big family gatherings. Cecile was a Lunch Lady for Mansfield Public Schools from 1995 to 2008.  Cecile was passionate about her job and serving the kids. She especially loved to dress up on special days, it would always require a shopping trip for accessories and a new apron.  After her retirement, her health slowly declined, and her husband took over the role of caretaker and cared for her for as long as he was able. Thanks to research and available treatments, she was able to live out a long life. Gerald and Cecile would have celebrated 61 years of marriage this year.  In addition to her husband Gerald, she is survived by her daughter Elaine (Bienvenue) Chague; a son Robert Bienvenue; five grandchildren; Tristan, Katherine and her husband Justin, Megan, Shawnee and her fiance Nathan and Melissa.  She also had six great grandchildren JoJo, Chevy, Gerry, Charles, Remi, and Henri.  Cecile was predeceased by her brother Donat Frechette, and beloved friend and sister in law Irene Frechette.  Donations may be made in her honor to the Alzheimers Association, 200 Executive Blvd. S. #4b, Southington, CT 06489.
