Olive I. Lehmus, RN, 96 of Willimantic, CT loving wife of the late Michael W. Wilk and the late Dr. Harold J. Lehmus, died Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Windham Community Hospital.

She was born in Hartford, CT on April 19, 1921, daughter of Robert and Grace James of Willimantic, CT and lived for 37 years in Manchester, CT.  Olive graduated from the Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing and was a registered nurse for 43 years working at Manchester Memorial Hospital, in private duty nursing, in public health nursing, as camp nurse for Camp Kennedy and retired as office nurse for Drs. Lehmus, Warren, Hughs and Tardiff.  She was a charter member and first violinist for Manchester Symphony Orchestra, a pianist, golfer, bridge player and painter.  Her family and friends all greatly enjoyed her hand painted cards for birthdays and holidays.  She knew everyone’s special day by heart, never forgot one and often tucked in a special $2 bill.  She and Hal retired in 1986 and enjoyed many years of world travel, visiting many different countries. They loved museums and taking continuing education classes from their homes in Coventry, CT and in the winter from Clearwater Florida.

She is survived by three children and their spouses; Douglas and Deborah Wilk of Lady Lake, FL, Dana and Narai Wilk of Rayong, Thailand, Dorrie Wilk and Carl Nasatka of Colorado Springs, CO, and daughter-in-law Lois Wilk of West Warwick RI; step-children and their spouses; John and Susan Lehmus of Portland, ME, Roberta and Wallace Irish of Manchester, CT, and Walter and Kathy Lehmus of Duncan, SC.; eight grandchildren and ten great grand children and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.  She was pre-deceased by her son, David Wilk, her daughter, Deborah King and son-in-law David King.
