Ashley M. Smith

Ashley Marie Smith (i-i, bird) formerly of Dunkirk New York passed away unexpectedly on Saturday December 2, 2017 at the age of 30 in Norwich, Connecticut.

Ashley was born on October 12, 1987 to Cathy Smith and Leonard Crockett.

She was a loving mother and leaves behind her 11 year old daughter Mariah LaFlamme whom called her “Bird.”

Ashley worked in the finance dept. of Norwich Orthopedic Partners and was known by her colleagues and patients for her infectious smile and incredible kindness. She brought an unmasked enthusiasm and brightness to both her professional and personal life. Her affinity for pizza, owls, penguins and Mickey Mouse will long be remembered. Some of her favorite activities were going to the beach with friends and decorating the tree at Christmas time. Ashley truly loved all those around her and will be remembered for her uncanny ability to reach people in a warm and positive way.

She will be deeply missed by friends, family and all that knew her.

Ashley is preceded in death by her late father, Leonard Crockett and her beloved Grammy, Florence Bowen. She is survived by her mother, Cathy Smith; sisters, Tonya, Tara and Nicole; twin Brothers, Devin and Dylan; Jason LaFlamme and parents Susan and John Decker; brother, Kyle; Uncle Johnny; daughter, Mariah and numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends that have become family.

Family and friends would like to extend our gratitude for the generous donations made on behalf of Ashley’s memorial services. Contributions were made to a Gofundme in her memory. Visiting hours will be held Sunday December 10, 2017 from 2-4pm at Potter Funeral Home in Willimantic, CT. Private funeral will be held Monday by close family and friends.
