Arthur “Dutch” O’Connor Jr., 86, of Willimantic, passed away surrounded by his family, Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Windham Hospital. A beloved husband, devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Dutch served his country for 20 years in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1971 as a Master Sergeant, then as a civilian worked for 20 years at the Willimantic Post Office and another 15 years as a crossing guard outside his home on Quarry Street. A lover of animals, old movies, and wry jokes, Dutch waited patiently until 2004 to see his Red Sox finally win the World Series. A man of character, kindness, and quiet strength, Dutch served as a role model for three generations of his family and anyone who crossed his path. He is survived by his wife, Jean; daughters, Eileen, Joanne, Diane, and Mary Ellen; two sons in law, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be held at St. Joseph’s Church in Willimantic. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Connecticut Humane Society or The Corpus Christi Bereavement Ministry of Windham.

A Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am Thursday, April 12, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 99 Jackson St. Willimantic. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery Club Rd.
